Aldhelmsted West
For girls entering at age 11 or 12, this purpose-built house accommodates approximately 50 pupils.
Opened in May 2013, Aldhelmsted West has mainly four-bedded ensuite rooms (each named after a flower) with plenty of study areas and various communal areas for relaxation and socialising. The girls enjoy a spacious, light and airy dining room, which leads out onto a dedicated garden.
West is the ideal stepping stone to our mixed-age houses, with all the leadership and competitive advantages to be found at the top of a preparatory school, combined with the specialist teaching and facilities of a major senior school.
Housemistress
Rebecca Tillin
Having previously spent 5 years at Chilton Cantelo School as Houseparent, Rebecca joined Sherborne Girls in 2011 and enjoyed five wonderful years as part of the Aldhelmsted East family.
Rebecca then joined the junior house as Assistant Housemistress and is now delighted to be starting her fourteenth year at Sherborne Girls as Housemistress.
Not long after joining Aldhelmsted West Rebecca went on to complete the Boarding Schools’ Association Advanced Certificate course and is currently working towards completing the BeReady Wellbeing Champion Apprenticeship.
She is committed to harnessing a happy environment and encouraging the girls to take every opportunity that Sherborne Girls offers. For her, being able to support them through this process will be a real privilege.
Alongside her passion for boarding she also loves spending time with family, exploring the countryside with Mabel, her 1-year old Cavapoo, and, when the sun is shining, she loves to get out on her bike. She enjoys badminton, is keen to have a go at pickleball, and also loves to bake.
Rebecca writes:
"From the moment you step through the door, you’ll feel a real sense of belonging. West is a joyful home from home where every girl is encouraged, supported and celebrated as she grows into the very best version of herself.
Our two year groups live and learn side by side, creating one big family full of laughter, friendship and shared experiences. Weekends bring even more excitement, with adventures ranging from waterparks and bowling to falconry, mug painting and ice skating.
You’ll be supported every step of the way by our fantastic team of staff — and even Mabel, our house dog, is always ready to listen. What girls love most about West is how quickly it feels like home, how many opportunities there are to try new things and, of course, the delicious food (especially the chocolate brownies!).
I cannot wait to welcome you into West and to the fun, friendship and adventure that await. Your time here will be the perfect foundation for your Sherborne Girls journey".
