Deputy Head (Academic)

Tim joined Sherborne in 2014. Prior to that he was Director of Learning at Sir William Perkins’s School having headed up the Biology departments at Merchant Taylors’, Northwood. Tim oversees the School’s curriculum and its staffing; he manages the timetable, the reporting schedule, and, with the Examinations Officer, ensures the smooth running of all examinations. Working with Judy Thurman and the Heads of Department, Tim ensures that all boys are stretched, challenged and supported in the lessons. A PADI instructor, Tim runs Sherborne’s scuba aqua club; he also teaches boys the ancient and venerable art of bell-ringing on the Sherborne Abbey bells.

Tim oversees the reporting schedule and, with the Examinations Officer, ensures the smooth running of all examinations.

Tim works with the Timetabler to produce the School’s timetable and holds responsibility for its day-to-day running, including the schedule of cover. Working closely with academic staff Tim ensures the boys are stretched, challenged and supported.

When not working, Tim enjoys indoor rowing and scuba diving. He runs sub-aqua at Sherborne and is a PADI instructor.

His wife, Claire and son, Oscar, really enjoy being part of Sherborne’s vibrant boarding community.
