At the heart of a transformative education lies character. At Sherborne Schools Group, Character & Wellbeing Education is not an add-on - it’s integral to everything we do. We believe that who a pupil becomes is as important as what they achieve.

Through extensive collaboration with national and international experts, we have developed our own SSG Framework for Character & Wellbeing Education, grounded in research and tailored to our context. We are seeking accreditation for this framework, validating our belief that values-based education must be intentional, explicit, and measurable.

Our approach focuses on the moral, civic, intellectual, and performance virtues that help young people grow into kind, responsible, and purposeful individuals. It’s about developing empathy, integrity, perseverance, humility, and leadership - and embedding these values through everyday learning, relationships, and school life.

In classrooms, on sports fields, through service projects and co-curricular activities, pupils are continuously supported to reflect, grow, and contribute. Staff model positive character, and pupils are encouraged to take risks, build resilience, and stand up for what they believe in.
