About Us

Sherborne Schools Group (SSG) is a leading charitable educational organisation based in the historic town of Sherborne, Dorset.

We offer a distinctive and dynamic blend of single-sex and co-educational learning for pupils aged 3 to 18, rooted in tradition but driven by a forward-thinking, values-based vision for education.

Formed in July 2024 through the merger of two long-established charitable trusts, SSG brings together a family of exceptional schools, each with its own identity but united by a shared educational philosophy:

  • Sherborne Boys – An historic full-boarding and day school for boys aged 13–18.
  • Sherborne Girls – A leading full-boarding and day school for girls aged 11–18.
  • Sherborne Prep – A thriving co-educational day and boarding prep school for children aged 3–13.
  • Hanford Prep – A nurturing and creative all-girls’ boarding and day prep school for girls aged 7–13.
  • Sherborne International – Specialist academic short courses for children aged 8–17 from around the world.
  • Sherborne Schools Worldwide – A joint venture to establish Sherborne-branded schools internationally.

All SSG schools are united in their mission to deliver a Transformative Education - a holistic, forward-looking model that shapes not only high-achieving learners, but grounded, confident, and compassionate individuals. This is what we call The Sherborne Difference.

Underpinned by our bespoke, research-informed SSG Framework for Transformative Education

Developed in collaboration with leading experts and currently undergoing formal accreditation for Character Education, our approach centres on four core pillars:

  • Individualised Academic Excellence providing a dynamic, responsive academic environment where each pupil is stretched, supported, and inspired to achieve personal excellence.
  • Character Education developing the moral, emotional, and social foundations that help young people become kind, principled, and resilient citizens; our accredited approach is informed by research and best practice.
  • Future-Readiness equipping our pupils with the skills, mindset, and global awareness to navigate and shape a rapidly evolving world.
  • Separate Yet Together – combining the proven benefits of single-sex education with purposeful co-educational collaboration, leveraging Group-wide relationships to broaden opportunities and enrich every pupil’s development.
